Family Service & Children’s Aid is Hiring School Based Therapists for Townsend Elementary (1), Western Elementary (1) and Northwest High School (1)

Looking for new to the profession and seasoned mental health child and adolescent therapists! No weekends and potential to work just a school day schedule (possible summers off if not needing to work all year round). Want to support students with learning coping skills, social skills trauma resiliency, and provided individual and group therapy? Love the idea of working in a school but want the support of a clinical agency. Hate figuring out billing, credentialing and insurance requirements? Don’t worry, we have that stuff covered. We are hiring individuals who:

  • Enjoy laughing and have a good sense of humor (potlucks too!)
  • Are dedicated to improving the lives of youth, adults and families
  • Want to work for a flexible and work-life balanced agency
  • Enjoy taking vacations and want generous paid time off (self-care)
  • Value individual supervision yet would welcome having group supervision along with access to a consulting psychiatrist
  • Enjoy a team approach but have ability to be independent
  • Want to have teammates to bounce ideas off of and be able to unwind with after a tough session
  • Value an agency that provides leadership/supervisor opportunities, if staff are looking for that.
  • Utilize an EMR system for timely documentation
  • Come join our team and be part of a work family that works hard but also knows how to have fun and prioritizes family first.

As a School Based Therapist at Family Service & Children’s Aid, you will provide behavioral health services that help youth in a local elementary school to improve their overall well-being. Provide individual and group therapy. Work with parents to assist their student in improving their mental health. Engage in activities within the school that are geared towards positive mental health and wellness. Provide professional development opportunities for the school staff. Provide interventions that align with the multitier system and support Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports in the school. Work as a team with other school staff such as Principals, Social Workers, Behavioral Interventionist, and paraprofessionals but still also have the clinical support form FSCA (Best of Both Worlds!). You would be helping to maintain an established State Funded program in Townsend Elementary, Western Elementary and Northwest High School, which means access to State Sponsored Conferences with other school-based professionals.

FSCA offers one of the best employee benefit packages in our local community, including the following:

  • BCN Health insurance
  • Dental/vision insurance
  • 403 B (agency contributes when able)
  • Life insurance (agency pays for certain plan and employee can increase if would like for small fee)
  • Short term disability
  • Generous paid time off (4-6 weeks depending on years of service)
  • 12 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday
  • 3 employee events throughout the year that are on company paid time (get paid to have fun!)

FSCA provides in house training opportunities and external training opportunities including but not limited to EMDR, ASAM Continuum, GAIN, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, Trauma, DBT, and trainings sponsored by DHHS, MSHN, CMHA, LifeWays and other State experts.

Qualifications for position are as follows:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related profession, with State of Michigan licensure
  • Experience as therapist working with children, teens, and/or adults. Experience in trauma, mental health and substance use, preferred.
  • Training in DBT, TF-CBT, Bounce Back, and/or CBITS or willing to obtain training in these evidence-based models (agency covers costs and provides supervision)
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

When you work with FSCA, you will join an experienced, hard-working team that values flexibility, family and providing quality services to our community. Why just work when you can help build strong families and strong communities?
