The Elementary School at FRCS serves approximately 750 students in grades K-4. The 80+ staff members in the Elementary School are dedicated, collaborative, and compassionate educators and faculty that strive to provide all students with the tools needed to become successful global citizens. In addition to providing a standards-based curriculum, we also provide opportunities for students to build their character, engage in several itinerants, and learn Spanish starting in Kindergarten. Job Summary:

School Based Building Substitutes are those teachers assigned to a single school to cover teacher absences for ten days or fewer per absence. Assignments at the school may be subject to change daily. These positions report directly to the school principal and receive evaluation and coaching.

Responsibilities:

• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
• Participate in all school based professional development days and sessions
• Other duties as assigned by the school principal

Qualifications- Required:

• Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree.

• Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting

• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Qualifications- Preferred:

• Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License
• Experience teaching in an urban school district
• FRCS values linguistic diversity. Candidates who speak an additional language are highly valued in our community.

Hours:

• 7:30am - 3pm, M, T, Th & F
• 7:30am - 4:15pm, W
