Salary Range:
School-Based Occupational Therapy Assistant (Full-Performance), HE-10: $5,798.00 per month

In addition to the key duties and responsibilities, this position may be assigned to:
Assist OT in developing adaptations or equipment, passing on information and skills to other team members, and applying therapeutic interventions and/or activities and modifying as needed. Participate in educational programs, in-service training, program, direst and other work-related meetings, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement: Successful completion of an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE); and successful completion of the required supervised field work.
Experience Requirement: One (1) year of work experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant which involved assisting the OT in the occupational therapy assessment process, providing verbal and written reports of observations of individuals, communicating results to OT and other multi-disciplinary members, contributing to a multi-disciplinary team for planning and programming purposes by developing individual goals and meeting the requirements and/or practice policies of the facility, providing interventions that are consistent with competency levels, modifying interventions upon the approval of the OT, and collecting data and documenting progress.

Salary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.
Requirements: Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
Temporary Assignment: Claims of Temporary Assignment (TA) experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements must be verified and attached to the application using one of the options below:
A copy of the applicant's TA History Report or equivalent system-generated report;
A signed letter from the applicant's supervisor that includes the applicant's name, his/her TA job title, the TA start and end dates (from mm/yy to mm/yy), his/her specific TA duties performed, and either the TA hours worked per week or total TA hours worked; or,
Copies of the applicant's signed SF-10 Forms.
Documents: Attach all relevant supporting documents to your application. Information about Temporary Positions: Temporary positions may be extended year to year, dependent upon funding and departmental needs. Making yourself available for temporary positions increases your employment possibilities and may lead to permanent opportunities. A person hired for a temporary position may also become a temporary employee upon satisfactory completion of the initial probation period of at least six months. Once a temporary employee, you would be eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits as afforded to an employee in a permanent position, with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.

Payday
New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.

FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Do you possess at least one (1) year of work experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant which involved assisting the Occupational Therapist in the occupational therapy assessment process?

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Did you pass the occupational therapy assistant national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)?
Note: If yes, you must submit a copy of your certificate with your application.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT LICENSURE REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must be licensed with the State of Hawaii as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) at the time of appointment. Do you possess a current, valid Hawaii OTA license?

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: This position requires a current, valid driver's license. You must mail in a copy (or attach a scanned copy) of your driver's license immediately upon applying for this position. SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED FOR THE FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL (OPTION 1):
Did you complete all of the requirements, including clinical requirements, for a bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy from an educational program approved at the time of graduation by ACOTE and successfully complete the national certification examination for OTs?
Note:If you are utilizing an allowable substitution of education for experience, you must submit a copy of your official transcripts from each institution AND a copy of your NBCOT certificate for OT to receive credit. Unofficial transcripts or transcripts downloaded from the internet will not be accepted.

SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED FOR THE FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL (OPTION 2):
Do you have a degree in occupational therapy from outside of the United States?
If yes, a report from a credential evaluation agency, recognized by the appropriate licensing agency of the State of Hawaii, indicating completion of an education program that has been determined to be equivalent to an accredited occupational therapy program in the United States must be submitted with your application to be credited.
