Job Summary:

 This position is responsible for supporting the recovery goals of individuals who use drugs and/or alcohol, establishing relationships to support safety and wellbeing among the individuals they serve within school and the community.

Two positions available.

 Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Model coping skills in words and actions.
  •           Educate clients about various pathways for recovery.
  •           Work with clients to identify their strengths and recovery goals.
  •           Represent Delphi Rise at monthly outreach events.
  •           Facilitate wellness activities for students to engage them in health coping strategies.
  •           Support in engaging youth in the Recovery Process.
  •           Present in health classes to promote student engagement.
  •           Provide staff trainings or present at parent events in district to increase awareness about addiction and community supports.
  •           Work collaboratively with the on-site school-based prevention counselor to provide collateral care.
  •           Document student interactions in an electronic record system.
  •           Ability to work independently as a resource for students and seek supervision when necessary for additional support.
  •           Deliver evidence-based programs assigned by the Program Director in identified districts with fidelity to the curriculum.
  •           Comfortable working with clients demonstrating complex challenges and limited resources.
  •           Travel to various districts to fulfil the above tasks.
  •           Maintain active professional licensure and certifications by ensuring timely renewals and completing any required continuing education or training. Keep up to date with credentialing requirements and ensure all documentation is current and compliant with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and community partners to coordinate student support services within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide case consultations when requested
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Monroe 1 orMonroe 2 BOCES districts and community stakeholders to expand access to prevention and support services.
  • Coordinate and present the Hidden in Plain Sight exhibit for school districts, caregivers, and community organizations to increase awareness of youth substance use indicators and prevention strategies.
  • Educate parents, caregivers, educators, and community members on recognizing early warning signs of substance use and engaging youth in prevention-focused conversations.
  • Promote family engagement by connecting caregivers with school-based supports, Peer Advocates, and community prevention resources.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and evaluating prevention initiatives, outreach events, and educational programming across participating districts.
  • Collect and report program data and outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness, support grant requirements, and inform continuous quality improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. 

 Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • ·      High School Diploma or GED (unless waived by OASAS).
  • ·        ASAP-NYCB Peer Advocate (CRPA required, CRPA-Y preferred).
  • ·        Reliable transportation and a clean driver’s license as there is regular travel across assigned districts (Monroe 1 and Monroe 2 consortium districts).
  • ·        Comfortable working in the community and willing to proactively engage individuals.

Special Requirements:

·         Must be able to work later afternoons and evenings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • ·        Basic computer skills.
  • ·        Ability to communicate with youth in the community.
  • ·        Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various problems, and prioritize work.
  • ·        Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • ·        Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record. The position may require occasional driving for meetings, appointments, or representing Delphi Rise in the community.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

This position requires the regular use of a computer/iPad, printer, photocopier, telephone.

Computer Software: Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat.

Mental and Visual Demand:

Moderate mental and visual attention to perform light administrative work, data entry and/or reading. Requires some judgment in the analysis of facts or conditions regarding individual problems or transactions to determine what action should be taken, within the specifications of standard practice.

 

Physical Demand:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, push, pull.

The employee is not required to lift or move objects greater than 5 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

There is no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.  Work is performed in a school environment with regular outside travel.
