POSITION SUMMARY
The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other school-sponsored activities. This position also assists with custodial duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ensure the safety of students during loading, transport, and unloading
- Maintain appropriate student behavior and report incidents as required
- Follow all Massachusetts RMV and DESE regulations
- Maintain accurate logs, mileage records, and incident reports
- Report mechanical defects, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Participate in mandatory training, safety meetings, and certification renewals
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, and families
QUALIFICATIONS

- Valid Massachusetts CDL Class B license (minimum CDL Permit)
- Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Valid Massachusetts School Bus Driver Certificate
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Ability to pass CORI/SORI background checks, drug and alcohol testing, and physical examination
- Previous experience in a School environment
- Strong communication and student management skills
- Knowledge of Massachusetts school transportation regulations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of safe driving techniques
- Ability to operate a school bus safely in all weather conditions
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies
- Strong attendance and punctuality
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to climb bus steps and assist students when necessary
- Ability to perform emergency evacuation procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
Work Schedule
- Full-time day shift, year round.
- Additional hours available for athletic trips and extracurricular activities
