    Description

    Thank you for considering employment in the Lunenburg Public Schools. There is an open Interim School Business Administrator position in with possability of permanent position with the Lunenburg Public Schools.

    GENERAL Lunenburg Public Schools seeks a skilled School Business Administrator to join our administrative team.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility is to maintain District's finances, including: budgeting, accounting, purchasing, grant management and collective bargaining in accordance with School Committee policy, state and federal laws and regulations and working with the Town Financial Director as needed.

    Budget

    • Assist the Superintendent and Leadership Team with development of the budget inclusive of local budget, grants and revolving accounts
    • Assist the Superintendent with the development of budget presentations; including presenting the budget to the School Committee and Finance Committee.
    • Manage the annual budget, including: local funds, grants and revolving accounts
    • Assist with preparation of the capital staffing plan and district's capital plan.
    • Ensuring compliance with the district policies.
    • Prepare and submit the annual End of Year report to the State.

    Procurement

    • Prepare all bids for district procurements, including documents, notice to bidders, instructions, specifications and bid forms, and oversee public bid openings.
    • Understanding of all MGL pertaining to procurement
    • Ensuring compliance with the district and town policies

    Grant Management

    • Oversee federal and state grant budgets
    • Work closely with the grant managers, including Student Services Office, Curriculum Office, Facilities & Grounds, Food Services and Community School Programs
    • Interface with the state grant management platform to complete EOY reporting and request funds.

    Collective Bargaining

    • Assist the Superintendent with all collective bargaining agreements, and serve as a member of the collective bargaining team representing the School Committee.
    • Build projection models
    • Advise on contractual agreements and financial impact.
    • Ensuring compliance with the district policies and collective bargaining units.

    Other

    • As needed, attend School Committee and Town meetings relevant to the position.
    • Manage data and requests for data, including reports to the School Committee.
    • Manage, supervise, and evaluate Business Office staff.
    • Communicate key information in a timely manner with other school/department managers.
    • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

    KEY SKILLS OF THE POSITION:

    • Working knowledge of public school or municipal finance practices and procedures pertinent to federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
    • Excellent time management, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and written/verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality and discretion across sensitive information.
    • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently within critical deadlines.
    • Ability to work after hours, including attendance at evening meetings.
    • Proficiency in MUNIS or other comparable platform
    • Proficiency in Excel required
    • Supervisory experience preferred
