Description: The Albany School District is seeking a 1.0 FTE School Counselor beginning August, 2026.

We are seeking a school counselor to work as a member of a collaborative team to deliver a data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program that is preventative in design, developmental in implementation, and supports students in the Albany School District in the areas of academic achievement, college and career planning, and personal and social development.

The successful candidate will be a leader who possesses the knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes necessary to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate, results-based school counseling program. Exceptional candidates will be an integral part of the leadership team and have knowledge and skills in social and emotional learning best practices, trauma-sensitive practices, mental health supports, and working as a team to create a safe and caring environment where children''s needs are met through prevention, identification, and evidence-based intervention.

Albany is a K-12 school district in Green County, WI supporting approximately 300 students and 50 staff members. Albany is a village with 1,100 residents located 25 miles south of Madison, WI. Duties, Responsibilities, and Attributes:

  • Ability to collaborate with building staff in identifying and addressing at-risk behaviors and issues that may affect a student's success at school
  • Willingness to assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of ACP and Youth Apprenticeship programs
  • Familiarity with effective, evidence-based classroom management practices and experience both using these strategies as well as supporting staff in their implementation
  • Experience with facilitating a multi-tiered system of support in the school setting is preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus
  • Strong desire to be part of the fabric of the school community
  • Ability to lead student meetings and assemblies
  • Willingness to attend student events and activities
  • Contribute to the positive culture and climate within the district
  • Maintain appropriate care for confidential student information
