POSITION: SCHOOL COUNSELOR
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
SUMMARY:
Pre-K - 12 School Counselor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be present, on time and ready to work.
Primary Functions: Develop, manage, and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program.
Provide educational, career, and student assistance services as defined and required in 511 IAC 4-1.5i .
Advocate for systemic change, reducing barriers to learning and increasing success for all students.
Delivery of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program (aligned with the American School Counselor Association National Modelii and Indiana program Standards for School Counselingiii):
1) Program Foundations
2) Data-Based Accountability
o Program design, implementation, and evaluation
3) Student Guidance
o Academic development (e.g. academic planning; postsecondary awareness and readiness)
o Career development (e.g. career awareness and readiness)
o Citizenship development (e.g. personal and social skills needed to be successful in a global society)
4) Student Counseling
5) Student Advocacy
6) Program Management
7) Professionalism

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Meet the Indiana licensing requirements for "School Counselor" as defined by the Indiana Professional Standards Board.
EDUCATION:
Education as required by 515 IAC 8-1-45 and by IC 20-28-2-6.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Good oral and written communications skills to converse with school staff, parents and students.
REASONING ABILITY:
Good Conflict Resolution skills.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
