Job Description:
The School District of Mauston is seeking candidates for an Elementary School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will be part of our pupil services team and will provide services and work to ensure that students and families experience safe and positive learning environments.
The School Counselor will lead and assist in the implementation of strategies, practices and initiatives intended to promote a positive school culture that is inclusive and responsive to all members of the school community. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and skills regarding play based therapy, classroom guidance, group and individual student counseling, strategies and support for classroom teachers working with students with social emotional and academic deficits. The candidate should have experience/knowledge with EMLSS, Second Step, Zones of Regulation, Neurosequential Model in Education, and Trauma Informed Care. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with a variety of students, staff and parents, excellent written oral communication skills, organizational and time management skills and a growth mindset.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must possess a School Counselor License (7054). Individuals interested in applying should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. The ability to run groups and manage behaviors is a must. Must pass background check and drug screening upon offer of employment.
