ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide casework service to individual students to resolve personal, social, or emotional problems as they relate to students' educational and social progress.
Provide direct services to parents to assist them in understanding of and constructive participation in resolving their children's problems and also to increase their knowledge and use of appropriate community resources.
Coordinate and assure the providing of parenting classes for parents of pre-school, elementary, middle school and high school students.
Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and sharing appropriate information, as well as to plan and establish staff responsibilities regarding students.
Facilitate the referral of students and serve as a staff advocate/liaison with such non-school agencies as the Social Services Department, Juvenile Court System, AODA and other mental health care providers.
Make home visits for the purpose of obtaining significant information regarding students as well as providing crisis intervention and supportive services to parents and students.
Serve as a liaison between home and school in situations concerning truancy, foster home children, special education students and those with serious social/emotional adjustment problems.
Assist students directly in their social/emotional/educational adjustment to school.
Keep appropriate records of cases for use by school staff members and non-school agencies.
10.Participate in m-team meetings and other conferences to assist in the placement of students, program review, revision, and other matters within the purview of the m-team meetings.
11.Prepare and submit timely reports on students referred for evaluation.
12.Perform duties in a professional manner.
13.Establish rapport with staff.
14.Evaluate student progress and follows district Board of Education-approved reporting guidelines.
15.Attend parent-teacher organization meetings as necessary.
16.Participate in development and implementation of district and school improvement projects.
17.Serve as a building contact person and case advocate for children referred for the evaluation of possible exceptional educational needs.
18.Serve as a consultant on mental health topics for school district staff, as requested.
19.Participate in staff, community and interagency meetings.
20.Assist with in-service training programs for various school personnel.
21.Supervise social work interns as assigned (voluntary).
22.Perform such other duties as may be determined by the administrative staff within parameters of the master agreement, Board of Education policies, state statutes, and administrative rules.
