School District Investigator (Casual/Seasonal)
The School District Investigator (Casual/Seasonal) is responsible for conducting thorough, objective, and timely investigations related to staff conduct, workplace concerns, and potential violations of district policies, procedures, and applicable laws on an as-needed basis.
This position is designed to provide flexible investigative support during periods of increased need, complex cases, or to ensure timely completion of investigations. The Investigator applies professional investigative practices, ensures procedural fairness, and provides clear findings to support administrative decision-making. Candidates with prior law enforcement or investigative experience, including retired law enforcement professionals, are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Investigations & Case Management
Conduct impartial investigations into allegations involving staff, including:
Misconduct
Policy violations
Workplace conflicts
Harassment, discrimination, or retaliation complaints
Develop investigation plans and timelines based on assignment scope
Conduct interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses
Collect, review, and analyze evidence (documents, communications, video, etc.)
Maintain accurate and confidential investigative records
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare clear, concise investigative reports that include:
Allegations
Evidence reviewed
Findings of fact
Conclusions using a preponderance of evidence standard
Submit reports within established timelines or as directed
Provide verbal briefings to Human Resources and district leadership as needed
Compliance & Confidentiality
Ensure all investigations align with:
District policies and procedures
State and federal employment laws
Applicable regulations (e.g., Title IX, when assigned)
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
