This position, under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated student health care services within the School Health Program as Unlicensed Assistive Personnel. The primary function is to provide care during the school day to students for illness, injury, and medication administration.The duties include, but are not limited to first aid, medication administration, asthma, allergy, diabetes, seizure management, covid-19, and flu screening and testing. Employees in this position are responsible for performing non-licensed, competency-tested, delegated activities in compliance with procedures, protocols, and documented care plans.

Staff may be directed to perform other emergency duties based on clinical experience including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Either certificate or diploma from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, Medical Assistant (MA) program, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program required. Other clinical experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis in lieu of CNA, MA or EMT education requirements.
Experience:
Health care related experience preferred.
Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. First Aid Certification from either American Red Cross or the American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire and will be offered on-site.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of Florida required. For Medical Assistants (MA), certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT preferred. In lieu of CNA, MA or EMT qualifications, other clinical experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
