Responsibilities as the School Health Assistant:- Mobility & Daily Assistance: Support students with movement, ambulation, and physical tasks throughout the school day.
- Feeding & Hygiene Care: Assist with meals, toileting, and personal hygiene in a respectful and professional manner.
- Health Monitoring & Response: Address health-related incidents and emergencies, documenting interventions as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with nurses, teachers, and staff to support student safety and individualized care plans.
- Transportation & Accessibility: Accompany students during school transport or activities and assist with communication support when required.
Qualifications for the School Health Assistant:- Education: High school diploma is required.
- Licensure: Must hold a permanent New York State Education Department license as a Health Aide with current registration.
- Certification: Completion of a state-approved Health Aide training program may also be accepted.
- Experience: Prior experience working with children or individuals with special health needs is strongly preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication skills with an empathetic, professional approach and the ability to handle sensitive situations confidentially in a collaborative environment.
