POSITION TITLE School LibrarianFLSA ExemptQUALIFICATIONS ValidVirginia teaching license with Library Media K-12 endorsementTeaching or Library experience preferred REPORTS TO Building PrincipalTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 200 daysESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSFoster an atmosphere which encourages student and staff library media center usage.Prepare and submit an annual budget for the library media center.Maintain accurate records of library media center reports such as Expenditure reports requisitionspurchase orders Destiny Library Manager circulation reports technical work orders etc.Inform staff of new professional resources that enhance teaching and learning.Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.Provide staff assistance in designing activities that help students learn to identify analyze and synthesize information by using a variety of materials & formats.Participate in instructional planning by collaborating with classroom teachers to design implement & evaluate resource-based teaching units.Provide information literacy skills instruction.Assist students and staff in the use and production of supplementary teachinglearning materials.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.Serve on committees as assigned.Remain current on instructional practices in education. e.g. instructional technologySALARY RANGE48956.98-76711.25PLEASE NOTE Pittsylvania County reserves the right to fill positions pursuant to School Board Policy GBN Staff & Hiring Procedures.
