Job Description

Anticipated Salary: $48,000-68,000. This is an exempt position.


Time Off Plan: 10 days of PTO, 8 weeks of summer break, all teacher/counselor holidays


The School Nurse serves as the primary health services coordinator for students, ensuring safe access to education by managing health plans, supporting chronic and acute medical needs, and collaborating with families and school teams. This role bridges health and education by promoting student wellness, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for current and enrolling students, and supporting the whole child in a virtual and in-person learning environment.

Provide nursing assessment, triage, and guidance for student health concerns in both virtual and in-person settings
Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Health Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and health-related components of 504 Plans and IEPs
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, IDEA, Section 504, state health requirements)
Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation in school systems
Collaborate with families, teachers, and Student Services teams to support student health needs and access to instruction
Coordinate care for students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, severe allergies)
Respond to and manage medical emergencies during in-person events, testing, or school activities
Provide training and guidance to staff on student health needs, emergency protocols, and accommodations
Manage immunization compliance and health requirements for enrollment and for grade appropriate requirements
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to student support planning
Support mental health awareness and refer students to appropriate services as needed
Travel to in-person events, testing sites, or student locations as required


Required Education and Experience

  Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina

  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatric, community health, or school settings

  Experience working with children and adolescents with diverse medical needs

  Knowledge of school health regulations, IEPs, 504 Plans, and health-related compliance requirements preferred

  Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  Ability to work independently in a virtual environment and manage multiple priorities

  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; Experience using databases; Web profi ciency

  Ability to clear required background check

Location All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina.


This position is onsite in Greenville, SC, or Columbia, SC, with the following travel expectations:

  Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester

  Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester

  Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)

  Participate in in-person student testing

  Travel within South Carolina to perform in-person assessments

  Occasional travel between in-person sites

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required.
