COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Managing a comprehensive and coordinated health service program for students within the school setting.
  • Implement mandated health screening programs.
  • Manage the schools' medication program.
  • Assess children for a wide range of physical and behavioral illnesses.
  • Implement disease management education for children with illnesses such as diabetes and asthma. Process may involve children's families.
  • Prevent spread of communicable diseases.
  • Provide emergency care.
  • Coordinate health service and education efforts with teachers, administrators, health educators, food service personnel, etc.
  • Collaborate with parent community health care providers and agencies.
  • Maintain comprehensive and cumulative health records for students.
  • Write on the job injury reports for all staff members and forward reports to the Central Office for processing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in pediatrics, community health or related field.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Bi-Lingual is a plus!
  • Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing License as an RN
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a school Nurse
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
