Job Description
An education services network on Long Island is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) for a great School Nurse position at one of their schools in Nassau County.
About the Opportunity:
Assignment Length: 2026-2027 School YearSchedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 7:40am to 4:10pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Setting: School
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing assessment, first aid, and appropriate medical care to students and staff
- Evaluate illnesses and injuries and determine appropriate follow-up or referral when necessary
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, school policies, and applicable regulations
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic illnesses, disabilities, allergies, or other healthcare needs
- Monitor health conditions, maintain health records, conduct screenings, and communicate with families and school staff regarding student health needs
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, healthcare providers, and school administrators
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to medical emergencies and changing situations
- Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality, safety, dignity, and well-being
