Salary: Per Certification and determined by LEA (Starting at $52,657) or LEFA (Starting at $37.32/hr.) Collective Bargaining Agreements.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Support and Organization
Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care to students in response to the nursing assessment
Assess the health and safety needs of the school environment
Follows an established communicable disease prevention and control program in cooperation with local and state public health agencies
Participates in the development of health-related policies and procedures in compliance with state mandates and current health practices
Administers medication with appropriate documentation per policies and procedures and within the confines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act
Provides nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff as required
Performs duties that may include, but are not limited to, trach care, G-tube feeding/oral feeding, catheterization, ostomy care, diapering/toileting, and positioning/lifting
Makes appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter
Maintains accurate, detailed reports, and medical records including School-Based Medicaid
Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties
Communication
Initiates contact with and acts as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community in compliance with federal and state confidentiality requirements
Maintains communication with the school nurses, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians
Professional Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for professional growth by participating in professional development activities.
Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel
Responds professionally to feedback
Demonstrates regular on-site attendance
Performs other duties as assigned by administrators.
