Salary: Briarcliff Teachers' Association (BTA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, Appendix D, Nurses Salary Schedule Application Deadline: October 16, 2026 Position Summary: The Middle and High School Nurse coordinates and implements a comprehensive health program that supports the academic success, physical health, and emotional well-being of all middle and high school students. This role serves as the primary clinical expert within the school setting, bridging healthcare and education by managing direct student care, administering specialized treatments, and collaborating closely with families, faculty, administrators, and community healthcare providers. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.Licensure: Valid, unencumbered NYS license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Certifications: Current professional certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation.Experience: Pediatric, emergency, community health, and/or prior school nursing experience preferred.Skills: Exceptional communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, strong proficiency in managing Electronic Health Records (EHR), and a compassionate approach to student-centered care.Clearance: Required fingerprint/background clearance and mandated trainings Core Roles and Responsibilities Direct Clinical Care: Deliver acute clinical assessment and first-aid interventions for sudden injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies occurring on school grounds.Chronic Disease Management: Develop, execute, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students managing chronic conditions such as type 1 diabetes, severe anaphylactic allergies, asthma, and epilepsy.Medication Administration: Oversee the legal, safe storage, and precise tracking of prescribed daily and emergency medications in strict compliance with NY State regulations and District policies.Mandated Health Screenings: Conduct state-required preventative biometric checks, including vision, hearing, and postural tracking, and ensure efficient execution of follow-up referrals with parents or guardians.Public Health and Immunization Compliance: Maintain precise records of student immunization status, monitor communicable disease activity, enforce necessary illness exclusions, and coordinate with local public health authorities. *Provide First Aid and CPR training to staff: As appropriate and consistent with applicable certification requirements. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as an active consultant on Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 accommodation teams to design physical or learning modifications for medically fragile students.Support the District's interscholastic athletic program, including reviewing required health documentation and assisting with the medical clearance process for student participation in athletics. Work collaboratively with the District Physician, including facilitating required physical examinations, medical reviews, athletic clearances, and follow-up regarding student health concerns as appropriate. Support student health and safety for field trips, athletics, extracurricular activities, and other school-sponsored activities, including reviewing student medical needs, coordinating necessary medications and emergency plans, and ensuring appropriate health information and procedures are communicated to designated staff. Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, social workers, administrators, families, and other appropriate professionals to support students' emotional well-being and mental health needs.Collaborate with administrators at both the Middle School and High School to ensure continuity and coordination of student care. Collaborate and communicate with the elementary school nurse to ensure continuity and coordination of student care; provide coverage for elementary nurse if needed.
