Qualifications include:

MA DESE license School Nurse (all levels) MA Board of Registration license as a Registered Nurse Knowledge and competency in the administration of school health programs and services Knowledge of state and federal regulations and laws related to school health services Thorough knowledge of clinical nursing, pediatric and public health Experience in the field of pediatric, public health, or other relevant experience Understanding of connections among the various school disciplines Knowledge of best practices, materials, equipment, and techniques of nursing Understanding of health services in relation to the educational needs of students Understanding of the 504 process Organization skills Proficiency with the technology used in school-based health programs and student information systems Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities include: Administering school-based health care services to students Communicating effectively with families and outside health providers to ensure student health needs are being met Preparing and administering a budget in a cost-effective manner Managing student health records in compliance with state and federal record laws Maintaining current on matters involving school-based health service and programs as well as updates in public health Providing staff leadership and training on health issues for mandated health information (ie. Epipen administration, Bloodborne Pathogens,etc.) Demonstrating professional growth and self-improvement Preparing all local, state, and federal reports on health/medical issues Collaborating with public and private agencies, organizations, and professional personnel in securing and providing school health services for students Providing consultation and collaborating with administrators, school physician, and others to ensure a safe and healthy school environment Participating in student assistance team, IEP and 504 meetings as needed Communicating necessary medical information and plans to staff Conducting necessary school screenings Monitoring head injury reports and concussion protocols (including IMPACT testing administration and results) Compiling and analyzing health services data Ensuring all students have up to date immunizations and any other required health updates Facilitating efforts to get the medically necessary paperwork from families Ensuring that all newly enrolled students meet MDPH requirements for school admission Additional duties and relevant responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration.

WORKDAY: The workday is 7:30 am to 2:40 pm. Work year as per Unit D contract.

The salary range is based on the Unit D Contract and placement on the salary scale by the principal is determined by relevant work experience, licensure, and educational level. Hiring is contingent upon successful CORI and SORI (Fingerprint Background Check) clearance.
