Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
● Master of Science in Nursing or other advanced degree preferred.
● Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Colorado Department of
Regulatory Agencies (DORA) or active compact RN license.
● Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider (SSP) license
or eligible to apply by start date.
● Current CPR certification
● 3 years of current clinical experience
● A completed Human Resources file including transcripts, student teaching
verification, previous work experience
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring the safe and effective implementation of Student Health
Services initiatives amongst preschools, elementary schools, secondary schools,
and other special programs in the district. Ensure compliance with district, state,
and federal regulations within each assigned school/program. Provide leadership,
supervision, and evaluation to licensed and unlicensed health office staff.
Job Duties
● Under the direction of the Health Services Leadership, lead and evaluate
school nurses, and other health staff.
● Under the direction of the Health Services Leadership, provide mentorship
and professional development for school nurses and other health staff.
● Implement professional learning needs assessments to guide professional
development planning.
● Participate in the development and implementation of a School Nurse
Orientation and Induction program.
● Facilitate communication between Health Services leadership, school-
based leaders, families, and community partners.
● Ensure compliance of all assigned schools with mandated school health
services including immunizations, hearing and vision screening, and
communicable disease reporting.
● Collaborate with school level leadership to ensure that students have
consistent access to high quality school health services, addressing
barriers and issues to Health Services leadership.
● Collaborate with Health Services leadership to maintain professional skills
and knowledge of student Health Services in alignment with district, state,
and federal regulations as well as national school nursing standards.
● Assess health trends in schools that pose a risk to students.
● Perform all duties in compliance with Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA), Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), Board of
Nursing, Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) regulations,
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) requirements and Colorado
Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
