New Mexico's Public High School for the Arts Job Title: Part-Time Licensed School Nurse (0.5 FTE) Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE), school-year calendar Position Summary: The Licensed School Nurse promotes the health and w ell-being of students by providing a broad range of school health services, health educa tion, and health-related advocacy. The nurse supports student success by implementing prac tices that address physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs in alignment wit h school and district goals. This position is part-time and requires current licensure through th e New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing services, including rst aid, medication administration, chronic disease management, and emergency care. Assess and document student health status; develop and implement individual healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with chronic o r acute health conditions. Monitor compliance with state immunization and heal th screening requirements. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthc are providers to support student health and academic success. Identify and report communicable diseases as requir ed by state law; coordinate with local health departments when necessary. Participate in IEP , 504, and student support meetin gs as needed. Serve as a health resource for staff and participat e in the development of school-wide health and safety policies and procedures. Assist with crisis response and emergency preparedn ess planning. Perform other duties as assigned by administration in support of student health and learning. Quali cations: Required: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico. New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED) Sch ool Nurse License or eligibility to obtain such licensure. CPR/First Aid certi cation. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience . Preferred: Experience in teenage health, public health, or sch ool nursing. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Knowledge of PowerSchool or electronic health recor d systems.
