Position Summary:

Trinity Valley School is seeking qualified and compassionate Substitute School Nurses to provide health services and support to students and staff on an as-needed basis. The substitute school nurse will fill in during absences of the regular school nurses and will be responsible for promoting health and wellness, administering medications, and responding to medical needs and emergencies during the school day. Substitute nurses may also have the opportunity to attend school trips where medical assistance is needed. These opportunities will be offered on an opt-in basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to students and staff, including first aid and emergency care.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation using Magnus Software
  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions and implement individual health care plans.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student health issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.
  • Support public health initiatives, including screenings and immunization compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Required: School nursing or pediatric experience.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student information
  • Ability to maintain calm and control in emergency situations
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC, Electronic Medical Record software, Magnus experience preferred

Work Schedule:

  • On-call basis during the academic school year for school day hours - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • Assignments may vary in duration (e.g., single day, multi-day).
  • Some overnight assignments available as part of our Trojan Outdoor Experience program.
