Position: School Nutrition Substitute (2 Positions)

Compensation: $19.65 per hour

Primary Functions:

The School Nutrition Substitute's responsibility is to help in the day-to-day operations of the District's School Nutrition Department. This person will help ensure the children are provided healthy, nutritious meals while following all local, state, and federal requirements.

Additional Skills and Qualities Include:

A preferred applicant can work under pressure. Has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Can maintain a professional and clean work area, along with the ability to maintain a positive and friendly cafeteria atmosphere for students and staff.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Enjoys working with children
  • Knowledge of food service preparation
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong math skills
  • The ability to learn how to run the point of sale during a busy lunch period
  • Promote teamwork and interact with fellow teammates in a positive manner
  • Discreetly handles information pertaining to students and families
  • Must perform duties responsibly and professionally
  • Must perform other responsibilities set forth in the School Nutrition job description
  • Must be able to reach, carry, push, bend, crouch, lift, and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds while performing duties
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparation of meals
  • Assists in setting up food serving areas
  • Assists in serving meals
  • Assists in general clean up and sanitation
  • Assists with dishes
  • Assists with sanitizing tables and kitchen prep areas
  • Assists with maintaining department records
