This position will be assigned to several schools in the district.
CERTIFICATION
- Certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services (DSPS) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a School Occupational Therapist (O051 Occupational Therapy License).
WHAT IT TAKES
- Master's or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy required.
- Successful completion of National Occupational Therapy Association Registry Examination.
- Training, understanding of, and experience with activities of daily living, sensory and regulation systems, fine motor functioning, assistive technology, communication systems and devices, general child development, and a background/familiarity in working with a variety of children with disabilities and special needs.
- Ability to assess students referred for evaluation purposes.
- Ability to relate and problem-solve effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Ability to develop appropriate Individualized Education Programs/Plans (IEP) and effectively follow-through with those service provisions.
