The Faculty of Science and Mathematics in the School of Applied Sciences and Arts at Arizona State Universitys College of Integrative Sciences and Arts invites applications for an Applied Mathematics Instructor position on the Polytechnic campus for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will primarily teach in-person mathematics courses on the Polytechnic campus. Depending on programmatic needs and the candidate's expertise, teaching assignments may include College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and related courses. This position is well suited for a dedicated educator committed to student success and interested in joining a collaborative, interdisciplinary faculty team focused on delivering an outstanding learning experience for our students.

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate mathematics courses, developing syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments, evaluating student learning, and continuously refining instructional methods to support student success. The instructor will collaborate with other mathematics faculty on curriculum development, course planning, and implementation as part of the Science and Mathematics Faculty. The successful candidate will also work alongside colleagues in chemistry, mathematics, and physics to advance CISA's commitment to excellence in undergraduate education.

The teaching load is typically five courses per semester, all at the undergraduate level and delivered primarily in person on the Polytechnic campus. Occasional online or hybrid teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Course schedules and teaching assignments are determined by the Faculty Head based on programmatic needs, enrollment demand, and instructor expertise.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Candidate must reside in Arizona or be willing to relocate.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics, and related areas
  • Develop syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, assessments, and other course materials
  • Work with the Faculty Head and other faculty and staff to coordinate course syllabi, learning outcomes, assignments, assessments, and instructional expectations
  • Collaborate with mathematics faculty to promote consistency in course content, materials, learning outcomes, and expectations across multiple sections of the same course
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of teaching methods, course materials, and student learning outcomes, and use assessment results to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain regular on-campus office hours and provide academic support to students
