    Description

    Teaches professional-level group lessons to youth in appropriate performing arts discipline (musical instruments, vocals, etc.); creates lesson plans, monitors student progress, prepares students for performances; interacts with parents and other teachers; follows prescribed curriculum.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Performance Arts Lesson Planning and Teaching Responsibilities (80%)
    • Child Care Responsibilities (20%)

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
    • Ability to demonstrate performing arts techniques.
    • Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation.
    • Ability to form positive relationships with youth.
    • Ability to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
    • Duties are usually performed seated but may require frequent periods of standing and walking.
    • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work is usually performed in a normal classroom environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or G.E.D. required, with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Music Arts, Music Education, or related field preferred,

    AND

    • Two years experience teaching private or group lessons in appropriate performing arts discipline,

    OR

    • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Certifications:

    • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
