The School of Social Work in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Faculty Associate and Academic Associates are part-time appointments who are hired on one-semester renewable contracts to teach one or two courses not to exceed 0.40 FTE per semester, either in-person or online. Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates and Academic Associates may not hold multiple non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

For this position, we seek to attract a pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person courses on ASUs Downtown Phoenix campus, Tempe campus, West Valley in Glendale, as well as a pool of faculty who are also able to teach online.

Watts College has a student body of over 6,747 undergraduate and graduate students. Essential Functions

  • Teach courses as assigned
  • Deliver course content through lectures, readings, and resources, class discussions, and other teaching activities
  • Support student engagement and learning
  • Grade assignments and assessments according to rubrics
  • Develop instructor presence
  • Communicate in a timely, supportive, and responsive manner to students, staff, and faculty
  • Be familiar with and follow ASU, Watts College, and School of Social Work policies and procedures related to teaching
  • Collaborate with other faculty
