School Personal Care Assistant

Location: Broomall, PA
Salary: $23.00 USD Hourly - $24.00 USD Hourly
Description: We are looking for a skilled, dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide individualized support to students with intensive emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities to ensure their safety, dignity, and access to educational opportunities. The PCA works under the supervision of certified staff to deliver one-on-one or small-group assistance, supporting students who cannot be accommodated in typical school settings.

Responsibilities:

• Assist students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and transportation to keep them engaged and focused.
• Execute established behavior intervention plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), modifying instructional materials and activities as directed.
• Respond appropriately to intense behaviors, which may include students hitting, kicking, or requiring physical restraining, following established medical and behavioral emergency protocols.
• Deliver essential personal care support, including toileting, feeding, dressing, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Track and record student progress, behavioral trends, and specific incidents to maintain accurate data.
• Promote Independence: Encourage self-sufficiency and positive social interaction through modeling and positive reinforcement techniques.
• Collaborate with Educational Teams: Partner with teachers, therapists, and school staff to maintain consistent support strategies, participating in team meetings and training sessions as requested.
• Maintain Professional Standards: Adhere strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all student, staff, and family interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary coursework in education, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience working with children within a school or educational setting.
• Ability to handle physical activity and demanding working conditions, including the capacity to lift students and manage physically aggressive behaviors.
• Strong communication, exceptional patience, and highly developed interpersonal skills.
