    About the Role

We're looking for an energetic, dependable Recess Program Coordinator/Coach to join our team at elementary school sites across San Francisco. You'll be one of three coordinators working together to deliver a structured, fun, and inclusive recess experience for students. This is a hands-on role — you'll be out on the yard every day leading games, managing activity stations, and creating a positive environment where kids feel safe, active, and engaged.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and facilitate organized games and physical activities during school recess periods
    • Supervise students on the yard and ensure a safe, respectful environment
    • Set up and break down activity equipment at the start and end of each session
    • Encourage participation across all skill levels and promote inclusive play
    • Manage student behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and communicate concerns to school staff as needed
    • Coordinate with your fellow coaches to ensure smooth daily operations
    • Track attendance and complete daily reports documenting activities, participation, incidents, and any behavioral notes
    • Maintain accurate and timely records to support program oversight and communication with school partners
    • Represent the program professionally in all interactions with students, school staff, and parents

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Experience working with elementary-age children (school, camp, youth sports, or similar setting)
    • Strong communication and classroom/group management skills
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently
    • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain prior to start date
    • Cleared through DOJ/FBI background check (required for all school-based staff)

    Schedule & Compensation

    • Part-time, school-year position
    • Hours vary by site
    • Hourly rate: $24/hr
    • Paid sick leave provided in accordance with California law
