Duties

The Elementary School Psychologist promotes student academic achievement, social-emotional wellness, and behavioral success by providing comprehensive psychological services in accordance with the Illinois School Code, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Illinois Administrative Code, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) regulations, and Board of Education policies. The School Psychologist collaborates with students, families, educators, administrators, and community agencies to support student learning and ensure equitable access to educational opportunities

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Psychologist endorsement issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Meets all qualifications established by ISBE and the Illinois School Code.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws governing special education, including IDEA, Section 504, and the Illinois Administrative Code.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions, and crisis prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use assessment results to improve student outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
