Job Summary

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the district psychologist, provide school psychological services to school sites regarding student learning, special education eligibility, and students with exceptional needs. Provide collaborative supports for effective, compliant special education programs at school sites.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

E. Essential Duties

• Provide diagnostic information and interpretation of cognitive, emotional, and perceptual assessments. • Serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary assessment and IEP team. • Complete all required reports and assessments in a timely manner. • Provide consultation to general education, special education, and administrative staff regarding psycho-educational needs of students. • Provide consultation to general educators, special educators, and parents regarding federal and state laws governing students with disabilities. • Collaborate with service providers in and out of district, therapist, psychiatrists, probation officers. • Serve as a member of Student Study Teams. • Provide strategies to staff regarding student behavior. • Provide assessment and monitoring of Special Education students requiring functional behavioral assessments. • Provide crisis intervention when needed. • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff. • Provide for maintenance of student records, including Special Education Information System (SEIS). • Participate in medic-Cal billing or other billing programs to recoup costs. • Provide technical support to school sites when dealing with eligible Special Education students whose behavioral and/or emotional needs impede learning. • Act as a liaison between school sites and the administrative unit for Special Education.
