About Our District:

The North Crawford School District is a 4K-12 district of ~400 students located in the heart of the Driftless Region in southwest Wisconsin. Our schools are all housed in one large building that is nestled between rolling hills, fields, and picturesque scenery. Our access to the outdoors provides us with a hiking trail and wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning. Our staff live in our district communities of Gays Mills and Soldiers Grove, and also commute from Viroqua, Prairie Du Chien, and many other beautiful towns in the region. The area is known for a focus on organic food, outdoor recreation activities, and a strong sense of community.

The School Psychologist supports the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students across a rural school district by providing comprehensive psychological services. This role requires flexibility, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to manage a broad scope of responsibilities, often across multiple grade levels or buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychoeducational evaluations to assess cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional functioning; interpret results and develop clear, actionable reports.

  • Manage a diverse caseload spanning early childhood through high school.

  • Lead and participate in special education eligibility determinations in compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., IDEA and Wisconsin DPI guidelines).

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and intervention plans.

  • Provide consultation to staff on classroom strategies, behavioral interventions, and academic supports within a Multi-Level System of Supports (MLSS).

  • Support early intervention efforts by assisting with data-based decision-making and progress monitoring for at-risk students.

  • Deliver direct services as needed, such as individual or small-group counseling focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and coping strategies.

  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

  • Assist with crisis prevention, intervention, and response, including risk assessments and coordination with community mental health resources.

  • Promote positive school climate and student well-being through proactive programming and staff collaboration.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and district requirements.

  • Serve as a liaison between school, family, and community agencies, particularly important in rural areas with limited access to external services
