DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Director of Special Education or the assigned designee by the Superintendent, serves as Psychologist for students in preschool through 12th grade. Evaluates needs of students, and plans and carries out programs enabling them to attain maximum achievement and adjustment by performing the following duties:
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Through the use of techniques and resources utilized in assessing, evaluating and diagnosing, identifies special needs students and recommends supportive services.
Offer recommendations for placement in least restrictive environment.
Actively participate in Student Study Teams (SST) and Individual Education Plan (IEP) Teams at assigned sites.
Assess, diagnose and make recommendations for remediation of learning deficiencies, social adaptation, academics, psychomotor skills, health, self-help and vocational skills.
Offer support and counsel to students in either individual or group sessions.
Confer with school personnel and parents to develop techniques to deal with children with behavioral difficulties.
Provide assistance and counsel to support teams writing or revising student Individual Educational Programs.
Provide in-service education to staff and parents regarding children with special needs.
Provide consultation and assistance to teachers regarding attainment of Individual Educational Program objectives and goals for children with special needs.
Perform behavior intervention case management duties, such as, conducting functional behavioral analysis and prepare behavioral intervention plans.
Provide support for the creation of an effective environment for learning.
Provide parent education related to students needs.
Responds to crisis situations (i.e. student tantrums and emotionally labile students) and assists with the assessment of students expressing suicidal ideation.
Consult with teachers, administrators, other Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Physicians and community agencies.
Process and record appropriate information for cumulative folders.
Prepare detailed reports on the analysis of pupils.
Maintain Medi-Cal billing related records.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with emotional disturbances.
Bilingual Spanish/English
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Knowledge of IDEA and other laws pertaining to special education
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
Knowledge and skills in the assessment of and educational planning for students with severe disorders of language, autism, hearing impairments, physical handicapped, and/or severely handicapped students.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California Credential authorizing service as a School Psychologist
Valid California driver's license

EDUCATION: Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential: School Psychology. The ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is desirable. ASSIGNMENT: 11 month position, 200 work days, 2026-2027 school year.

The District is located in the City of Pico Rivera, which is conveniently located off the 605 and 5 freeways. We are a short drive from both beaches and mountain areas and are located next to the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area.
