Classification: Certified Employee

Qualifications:

  • Graduate-level degree in school psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Indiana school psychologist license or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license.
  • Knowledge of student assessment, special education requirements, interventions, behavioral supports, and school-based mental health practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and required timelines.
  • Successful completion of all corporation-required background checks.

  • Salary and other employment factors listed are based on a full school year and will be prorated based on the employees hire date.

Nature of Work

The School Psychologist supports the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs of students in preschool through 12th grade. The school psychologist collaborates with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to identify student needs, conduct evaluations, and recommend appropriate services and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations and reevaluations for students in kindergarten through grade 12.
  • Select, administer, score, and interpret appropriate assessment instruments.
  • Review student records, classroom performance, observations, intervention data, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare clear and legally compliant evaluation reports within required timelines.
  • Explain evaluation results to parents and school personnel.
  • Participate in case conference committee meetings and assist with eligibility determinations and educational planning.
  • Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and other student problem-solving processes.
  • Recommend academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, families, counselors, and special education staff.
  • Assist with functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans, as appropriate.
  • Support school safety, crisis response, threat assessment, and student risk-assessment processes as assigned and appropriately trained.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
  • Follow applicable federal and state laws, professional standards, and school corporation policies.
  • Participate in professional development, meetings, and committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the superintendent or designee.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
