We
are looking for nurses to provide nursing staff on an as -need basis,
part time or fulltime assignments in the school system. The nurses may
be assigned to school health suite management, medication
administration or supervision of school health aides for the School
Health Program for 2023 -2024 school year.
<\/p>
Minimum Qualifications:<\/b>
<\/p>
- Current License
with Maryland Board of Nursing
<\/li> - Current Certification
in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
<\/li> - Negative CIJIS for
Maryland and Federal criminal background check
<\/li> - Two (2) years of
clinical experience as an RN, with at least one (1) year in the
pediatric care setting.
<\/li><\/ul>
<\/div><\/span>
Requirements<\/h3>- Delegate day to
day nursing activities, including medication administration to
the school health aides, as required by Maryland Nurse Practice
Act.
<\/li> - Attend
a five (5) day Case Manager/Delegating Nurse Train the Trainer
Orientation course provided by OHHS, which training will be offered
during the summer months;
<\/li> - Provide required
refresher training on an as needed basis for any SHN under their
supervision;
<\/li> - Supervise all agency
nursing staff assigned to City Schools to ensure nursing duties
are performed in accordance with established Maryland State
Department of Education (MSDE) protocols, policies, procedures, and
quality of care standards;
<\/li> - Ensure staff
performance meets minimum standards in all areas, including
adherence to all school health policies and procedures; HIPAA and
FERPA guidelines; proper documentation of services provided; and
always maintaining professionalism, in accordance with COMAR
10.27.19.02;
<\/li> - Be available by
telephone Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to
address OHHS concerns related to staffing needs and
concerns;
<\/li> - Be on site to orient
and train all newly assigned SHNs;
<\/li> - On -site supervisory
visits to observe care provided by the LPN must be completed at a
minimum of every forty -five (45) days.
<\/li> - Be able to travel from
school -to -school where SHNs are assigned to observe performance
and review all documentation for accuracy; and
<\/li> - In cases where an LPN
is assigned to a school as the SHN, develop all IHCPs for
students with chronic medical conditions, and be available to
attend all 504 Plan/Individualized Education Program (IEP)/School
Support Team (SST) meetings for students with medical needs.
