Note: All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than in a specific building. While this opening is currently at Ross Elementary, final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.

Overview of the Position: The School Administrative Assistant supports the daily operations of the school by providing professional office, clerical, and customer service support to students, families, staff, and administration. This position helps maintain a welcoming and organized school environment while assisting with communication, student records, scheduling, attendance, and overall building operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required, bachelor's degree or higher preferred
  • Proficient in the use of technology and Microsoft software programs.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience as an administrative professional is preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily operations and overall function of the school building.
  • Foster a welcoming, friendly, and student-centered office environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and administration.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide assistance to students, staff, and parents.
  • Perform general office duties including typing, filing, copying, and organizing materials.
  • Maintain records related to substitute teachers and teaching assignments.
  • Enter and update student enrollment information and complete required follow-up paperwork.
  • Assist with student scheduling and attendance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate student educational records in compliance with district requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain building calendars, meetings, and event schedules.
  • Supports the implementation of building safety plans and emergency protocols, including fire drills, evacuations, intruder/lockdown drills, bomb threats, and other emergency response procedures, while maintaining required documentation and communication with staff, students, and emergency personnel.
  • Maintain office supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with all members of the school community.
  • Relay information to teachers, staff, and parents as appropriate.
  • Complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team to support efficient building operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Twelve-month full-time employee.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits align with qualifications and experience as per the Milford School District Board of Education Policy.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
