The Black Horse Pike Regional School District is seeking a SCHOOL SECURITY and RECEPTION SPECIALIST at the CARE Program for the 2026-2027 School Year:
JOB GOAL: Provide security at the CARE Program location at Camden County College
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in school safety and security, including the management of emergency management drills.
- Able to maintain a calm and positive attitude in the face of obstacles and uncooperative guests and students.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Strong work ethic and high level of trust.
- Must have the ability to work alone with strong self-direction and time management skills.
- Possess the ability to learn procedures quickly.
- Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Possess the ability to use all appropriate computer programs.
- Must be able to multitask, prioritize and perform assignments while being plagued with frequent interruptions.
- Must have the ability to collaborate with administrative staff as well as the school resource officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and direct visitors who enter the building, verifying their identity and purpose, in accordance with Policy 9150. Confirm appointments of all visitors prior to allowing them access to the school. If visitors do not have an appointment, then provide them with the exact phone number and employee they should contact.
- Monitor and authorize entrance of students for late to school and late arrival.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees and staff to guard against theft and maintain security on the premises.
- Contact local law enforcement in case of emergency, such as fire, altercations, or the presence of an unauthorized person.
- Assist with restraining a student(s), if needed; training will be provided.
- Preserve order and protect property.
- Monitor the school surveillance cameras and alert school administrators and/or local law enforcement when student or any other person is acting suspicious or breaking school rules..
- Ensure safety and security policies and procedures are being followed throughout the day.
- Report any significant information to building administration and local law enforcement.
- Consult and collaborate with administration and local law enforcement regarding emergency management plans and the latest technology being discussed or installed to provide safe and secure buildings (i.e. cameras, keyless entry, etc.)
- Maintain a list of visitors that shall not be allowed access.
- At the very beginning of the shift, check to make sure that all exterior doors are closed and locked.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director.
Terms of Employment: 10 months from September 1 to June 30, with two paid days (16 hours) of professional collaboration with the dean of students at CARE prior to September 1.
Salary Based on experience, starting at $22.00 per hour.
Per policy 4125, the district will give preference to qualified individuals who are residents of the Black Horse Pike Regional School District.
