Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-time, 10-month

Compensation: $25.98 per hour - This is a full-time hourly, non-union, non-exempt 10-month position.. Summer hours may be available for additional compensation.

Stipend: $5,000 annual allowance for firearm maintenance, equipment and ancillary professional expenses

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of all students, staff and visitors to Hinsdale 86 campuses and events. This position will work in concert with the Student Supervisors and the Dean's Office and assist during investigations of student violations of school rules and board policies on school property or at school-sponsored events. Under the direction of the Director of Security, this role balances high-level tactical readiness with a supportive, student-centered approach. The officer is responsible for maintaining a safe learning environment, preventing criminal activity, and providing a rapid, armed response to critical incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sworn law enforcement with retirement or separation in good standing.
  • Required Armed Certification: Must possess a valid IROCC (Illinois Retired Officer Concealed Carry) card or LEOSA equivalent.
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid Drivers License and Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) Card.
  • Clearances: Must pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information
  • Knowledge in working with technical communications systems, programs and equipment during daily operations and emergency circumstances.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and digital surveillance/incident reporting software.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and articulate under extreme stress.
  • Ability to engage positively with teenagers, staff, and parents, acting as a role model and community liaison.
