Job Summary (List Format):

- Position: Special Education Teacher (Life Skills Classroom)
- Location: Wylie, TX (serving 5-6th or 7-8th grade students)
- Focus: Teaching students with disabilities in a Life Skills classroom to develop adaptive, daily living, communication, and vocational skills for maximum independence.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) via the ARD Committee process.
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instruction to meet the unique needs of special education students.
- Employ a variety of teaching strategies, materials, and technology tailored to individual learning styles.
- Assess student learning styles and use results for instructional planning.
- Work cooperatively with general education teachers to support special education students in regular classes.
- Supervise instructional aides and volunteers.
- Maintain effective oral and written communication with all stakeholders.
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements and core content areas.
- At least one year of student teaching, internship, or related experience.
- Knowledge of ARD Committee process, IEP planning/implementation, and special needs student support.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Weekly pay: $1,685–$1,850 (eligibility for tax-free stipends).
