ESS Clinical is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in partnership with Lake County Schools for the 2026–2027 school year

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine educational needs and appropriate services.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals related to vision-specific educational needs.
  • Teach compensatory skills, assistive technology, sensory efficiency, social interaction, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, related service providers, Orientation & Mobility Specialists, and families to support student success.
  • Recommend instructional accommodations, modifications, and adaptive materials.
  • Assist in selecting and implementing appropriate assistive technology and specialized educational resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with federal, state, district, and IDEA requirements.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Florida Educator Certificate with certification in Visually Impaired (K–12) or eligibility to obtain Florida certification.
  • Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and specialized instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet district onboarding requirements, including background screening and fingerprinting.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid Florida Professional Educator Certificate.
  • Florida certification in Visually Impaired (K–12) or eligibility for Florida certification through reciprocity.
  • Proficiency in Unified English Braille (UEB) preferred.
  • Experience with assistive technology for students with visual impairments is highly preferred.
