Title: School Social Worker
Qualifications:
Shall be a graduate of a recognized college or university and meet the requirements for certification established by the school laws and regulations of the State of New Jersey and the Department of Education.
Shall possess the School Social Worker certificate.
Reports To: Director of Special Services and other administrators as assigned.
Job Goal: To provide knowledge and assistance to the building administrator(s) and
instructional staff through an understanding of the student in terms of the
social, familial, community and emotional aspects; participates in a
multidisciplinary Child Study Team; provides information on behavioral
and social-emotional strategies, serves as liaison to social-emotional
strategies, serves as liaison to other agencies and contributes to the
promotion of good mental health practices which affects the students in
school, family and community.
Performance Responsibilities:
May serve as a member of the School Resource Committee and/or as a consultant to the Committee.
Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary Child Study Team which cooperatively develops an Evaluation Plan.
Conducts those assessment activities necessary to determine the student's social-emotional, adaptive and behavior status as specified by the New Jersey Administrative Code and as determined by the Child Study Team in a timely manner.
Serves as Case Manger: develops and monitors the IEP in conjunction with the teacher and other members of the Child Study Team, monitors and insures the effective delivery of educational services as specified by the IEP.
Serves as a consultant to teachers, administrators, other school staff and parents.
Provides counseling services to handicapped and/or non-handicapped students and/or training services for parents.
Serves as a liaison between the Manchester Township Schools and other appropriate agencies concerned with the safety and wellbeing of the students, i.e. DYFS, Probation, mental health agencies, the courts.
Provides demonstrations of classroom management techniques and/or teaching.
Serves as a liaison with other schools, agencies and/or professionals in private practice.
Assists in the provision of in-service training to administrators, teachers and parents.
Makes educational and budgetary recommendations to the Director and Principal.
Performs any of Special Service's duties as may, from time to time, be added by the Board of Education, the Superintendent of Schools or the Director of Special Services.
Terms of Employment: Ten month
Salary as per negotiated agreement
