Key Responsibilities:
- Student Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling for social skills, anger management, anxiety, grief, and emotional regulation.
- Behavioral Intervention: Develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with staff.
- Case Management & Referral: Act as a liaison between the school, home, and community, connecting families with outside resources for housing, mental health, and medical care.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to immediate behavioral, social, or emotional crises within the school setting.
- Collaboration: Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to improve school attendance, address bullying, and support academic success.
- Special Education Support: Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to provide input on social-emotional needs.
- School Climate: Assist in developing school-wide programs for positive behavior support and anti-bullying initiatives.
Requirements:
- Licensed Social Worker
- NJ Certification - School Social Worker 3200
- Preferred Bilingual
- Knowledge of School Attendance, Registration, and Residency
Salary: Following the established BTEA salary guide, the minimum starting salary of BA Step 1 is $57,940 for the 2026-2027 SY.
