Qualifications
- Masters Degree in School Social Work
- Valid State of Michigan Certification as a School Social Worker
Essential Duties
- Provide school social work support and services to general education students as part of the District Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Provide school social work support and services to students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective collaboration with parents, educational staff and community agencies to coordinate programs and services for students and families.
- Strong diagnostic skills and experience participating in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team process.
- Experience facilitating the IEP process and engagement in the Section 504 Process.
- Knowledge and use of Positive Behavioral Supports.
- Active participant in functional behavioral analysis (FBA) and development of behavior intervention plans (BIP).
- Administration of Threat and Risk Assessments.
- Trained in, or willing to be trained in non-violent crisis intervention.
- Conduct home visits as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary
Appropriate placement on the current Teachers Master Agreement.
