School Social Worker

ATC Healthcare Services, LLC of Nassau County is seeking a compassionate, caring, and dedicated School Social Worker to serve the staffing needs of our schools. ATC Nassau County has an IMMEDIATE NEED for a School Social Worker in Lawrence, NY 11516.

ATC Nassau County seeks a licensed and certified School Social Worker who will provide services related to a student's social, emotional and life adjustment to school and community. The School Social Worker is the link between the home, school, and community and will provide direct as well as indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success.

School Social Worker will be responsible for:

• Providing crisis intervention
• Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success.
• Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management
• Assessing students with mental health concerns
• Helping the student develop appropriate social interaction skills.
• Assisting the student in understanding and accepting self and others
• Working with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment.
• Assisting parents to access programs available to students with special needs.
• Assisting parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources
• Providing staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior.
• Assisting teachers with behavior management.
• Maintaining accurate case files and reports to track students’ issues and progress.
• Creating a plan to help students function in a school environment.
• Working to find the best solution for each student and situation.

School Social Worker Qualifications:

• Active NYS Master's in Social Work license (LMSW)
• NYS School Social Worker certification - certified by the Office of Teaching (OT)
• 1-2 years of experience providing the skills and knowledge necessary
• Resume submissions and in-person interviews are required.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and personalities.
• Great listener and able to communicate effectively.
• Ability to maintain composure and professionalism.
• A desire to work with children.
• Must have compassion and an approachable personality.
• Must be able to handle stressful situations.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
