McFarland School District is seeking highly dynamic candidates to fill an opening for a school social worker long-term sub from approximately November 18, 2026 - March 29, 2027. What Your Day Will Look Like:

A school social worker at McFarland Primary School involves supporting students'' social, emotional, and mental health needs while also addressing challenges such as housing and food instability. They meet with students individually and in small groups to provide counseling, crisis support, and connections to resources like food assistance, transportation, and housing programs. The social worker collaborates with families, teachers, and administrators to ensure that students experiencing homelessness receive the support they need to stay engaged in school, including assistance with McKinney-Vento services. They also participate in IEP and 504 meetings, advocate for students' rights, and help create individualized plans to support academic and emotional success. Throughout the day, they facilitate restorative conversations, respond to behavioral needs and crisis situations, and work proactively to promote a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Coordinate/liaison between home, outside agencies, and school including conducting home visits (may include night and weekend visits)
• Knowledge of community resources available to students and families
• Knowledge of typical adolescent behavior, mental health needs, and available options for treatment and support
• Implement Tier II/III interventions
• Support teachers in developing student social/emotional skills
• Experience with FBA/BIP, data analysis, and proactive behavior management
• Case management and coordination of 504 plans
• Assist the Director of Student Services, the Principals, and other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating individual programs
• Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at IEP meetings when requested
• Serve as a member of IEP teams and provides developmental, psychological, and sociological assessment information related to planning for students
• Knowledge of and skills required to participate in a structured student problem-solving process
• Active member of the crisis response team
• Prefer experience with Restorative Practices
• Responsible for coordination of attendance interventions within the building, which may include collaborative home visits with School Resource Officers or Associate Principals
• Provide professional development and resources for staff and families regarding McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance and drug prevention
