JOB DESCRIPTION The School Social Worker carries a caseload of students with IEPs/504s. They serve on the assessment team for initial, annuals, and 3-year multidisciplinary evaluations that address the affective/behavioral/social domains. They also support MTTS in the building, and work with general education students.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification

• Master's Degree with eligibility for full approval as school social worker in Michigan (pending one year of satisfactory work performance) with experience serving students with a variety of disabilities, or enrolled in an approved SSW program (district will apply for waiver application under Rule 340.1799f).

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• The ability to independently and accurately implement the requirements of IDEA and Michigan's Special Education Rules, including the MET/IEP process, timelines, and eligibility criteria, as well as the requirements of Section 504.
• Conduct assessments/evaluations to develop FBA/BIPs Pre-School to Age 26.
• Lead parent groups and facilitate professional development.
• Skill in assessment and the ability to use this skill to participate in differential diagnosis of disabilities, as well as solid clinical skills which include the ability to provide personalized interventions, based on sound clinical judgment, in individual or group situations.
• Skill in a variety of flexible behavior management strategies appropriate for use with students with a variety of disabilities.
• The ability to work with families and facilitate cooperation with community agencies/resources in order to meet the needs of students in the educational setting.
• A willingness to be an advocate for the unique needs of students with disabilities, while working cooperatively with special education team members and general education staff.
• Provide services to general education, 504 and students with IEPs.
• Participate on the evaluation team for 504s, initial and 3-year reevaluations.
• Implementation of FBAs and BIPs.
• Participate in the MTSS process.
• Serve as a member of the building Crisis Team.
• Support Homebound students.
• Other duties as assigned.
