Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of students’ mental health, social-emotional functioning, and behavioral needs in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Provide individual and group counseling services focused on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, peer relationships, and family conflict.
- Respond to crises within the school setting, including suicide risk assessments, child abuse reporting, and emergency mental health support.
- Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans, especially addressing emotional, behavioral, and social goals.
- Serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and community agencies to coordinate support and access to resources like mental health services, food assistance, or housing.
- Develop and implement school-wide prevention programs and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives aimed at improving school climate and student well-being.
- Provide consultation to teachers and school staff regarding behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, and student mental health concerns.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, progress, and referrals in accordance with school policies and confidentiality guidelines
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- LA DOE School social Worker Certificaiton ORLA State Board Social Work Examiners License OR LA school Social Work License
- Experience providing Social Work services in a school or pediatric setting.
- Experience providing clinical or school-based social work services to children and adolescents.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, counseling, and crisis response.
- Knowledge of school systems, child development, and evidence-based interventions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including educators, psychologists, and administrators.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic recordkeeping systems; experience with telehealth is a plus.
