Job Posting: Elementary School Social Worker\n \nLocation: Cape Cod, Massachusetts\n \nPosition Type: Full-Time\n \nStart Date: September 1, 2026\n \nPosition Overview\n \nThe Truro Central School, a close-knit and community-oriented elementary school on Cape Cod, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Social Worker to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students in grades PK\u20136. The ideal candidate values collaboration, relationship-building, and a whole-child approach within a rural school community.\n \nKey Responsibilities\n \nSupport students with social-emotional learning, attendance concerns, behavioral challenges, and family-related stressors\n \nDeliver high quality, evidence-based social-emotional curriculum \n \nFunction as an advocate for children and provide direct services to students and their families in a one-to-one relationship, as well as in groups\n \nParticipates as a member of the school's leadership team and works toward making the school and community more sensitive to problems within the school population. \n \nParticipate in the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans, including conducting social-emotional assessments\n \nCollaborate closely with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff in a team-based, relationship-driven environment\n \nServe as a liaison between the school, families, and local Cape Cod community resources\n \nDevelop, conduct and facilitate parent/guardian educational workshops on issues related to child development, stress reduction and parenting strategies\n \nAssist with crisis response, risk assessments, and student safety planning as needed\n \nMaintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with DESE and district guidelines\n \nContribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate\n \nRequired Qualifications\n \nMaster's degree in Social Work (MSW)\n \nMassachusetts DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor\n \nExperience working with elementary-aged children preferred\n \nStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills\n \nCommitment to equity, trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive care\n \nPreferred Qualifications\n \nPrevious experience in a rural or small-district school setting\n \nKnowledge of special education processes and Massachusetts education regulations\n \nFamiliarity with community-based services and family support systems\n \nExperience with the Second Step curriculum for K-6.\n \nSalary & Benefits\n \nSalary based on education and experience, in accordance with the district's collective bargaining agreement\n \nCompetitive benefits package\n \nProfessional development opportunities\n \nApplication Process\n \nInterested candidates should submit the following:\n \nCover letter\n \nResume\n \nCopy of MA DESE licensure\n \nThree professional references\n \nApplications should be submitted to: Superintendent Stephanie Costigan at costigans@truromass.org.\n \nThe Truro School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school community.\n\n
