Description of Work
This position will ensure quality student support services working within the Exceptional Children guidelines and the school''s budgetary guidelines. This position will serve as a liaison between the NCSD professional department heads and other agencies. Will ensure compliance with students' IEP transition plans and expected to strengthening student American Sign Language (ASL) skills as required by the school''s Communication Policy. This position is responsible for leading the NCSD Student Admissions Team, working with LEAs in and outside of North Carolina. This position will provide their own speech services caseload determined by the student''s IEP.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
30% This positon is responsible for supervising the School Counselor, Occupational Therapist, Audiologist, part-time Physical Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist I, and Staff Development Specialist. 40% Providing pertinent documented observations and evaluation information to the school principal. Holds regular meetings with the support staff, ensuring each follows guidelines for Exceptional Children as determined by their respective disciplines: specifically as it relates to Deaf and hard of hearing students, as well as DeafPlus students (Deaf students with additional disabilities) in grades K-12. This position will ensure quality student support services in conjunction with NCSD budgetary guidelines. Serve as a liaison between the other professional department heads at NCSD, consultations with Mental Health, Student Health Center conferences for individual students, Management Team meetings, Residential Life team meetings and others as needed. Also serve as a liaison between other agencies such as Vocational Rehabilitation and RHA Mental Health, Physical Therapy and other contracted services as needed. Ensures compliance with students' IEP transition plans, staff attend required trainings, seminars, webinars, etc., and share information with pertinent NCSD staff, students and others. 30% In addition to supervisory responsibilities; this positon is responsible for providing their own speech services to caseload of students in grades K-12 as determined by their IEP. Oversees strengthening student American Sign Language (ASL) skills achieving ASL competency based on the school''s Communication Policy. Responsible for leading the NCSD Student Admissions Team, working with LEAs from other school districts in and outside of North Carolina. following Exceptional Children guidelines, to determine the student's best interest in attending NCSD.
